Broadway's Biggest Night
Broadway's Biggest Night
In honor of the 71st annual Tony Awards, here are some Broadway A Cappella covers!
In honor of the 71st annual Tony Awards on Sunday night, here are some unaccompanied covers of Broadway tunes:
Let's start with a huge mashup of the 2016 Tony nominees by super group RANGE!
Raw and unedited, Emily Goglia slays this tune. If you hurry, you can still see a cappella queen Sara Bareilles star in the Broadway show she wrote.
Host James Corden is giving Jimmy Fallon a run for his money as "King of Late Night A Cappella." In this riff-off, the Fillharmonic sits in to back up Corden and Tony veteran Neil Patrick Harris.
Known for their incredible balance and blend, BYU Vocal Point never disappoints!
Obviously, we couldn't leave Broadway's first a cappella musical off our list, even if it didn't receive any Tony nominations.
This video is a FloVoice Exclusive and was filmed at the cast party immediately after the final curtain call.
"This soundtrack has been on repeat for all of us," RANGE arranger Ben Holtzman said. "The message of this show and this song are really important, and it's really an anthem for RANGE in the sense that we all feel 'found' by each other. RANGE is family to all of us, so to celebrate finding your 'happy place' and your 'community' means a lot to us."
Filmed at the 2017 Harmony Sweepstakes National Finals, this delightful moment spontaneously happened in the lobby immediately after the competition ended.
From Broadway Goes A Cappella at 54Below, this past January was the first time this cut song had ever been performed live on stage.
VoicePlay - Aca Top 10
Top 10 lists are great; especially when they combine Voiceplay, Broadway, and a cappella!
We all know and love Backtrack by now. Usually we experience them as the super-polished green screen video group. Here is a live performance from SingStrong.
Peter Hollens is at the forefront of YouTube a cappella, and when asked about this cover, he said, "It was an honor working on the last five years medley with Jason Robert Brown. This composer is one of my wife's favorites, and we just adored the movie. I am so happy to help showcase this amazing music with the world."
Here's another one from Broadway Goes A Cappella. This is the first full run-through of Wicked Little Town on the day before the show.
Another cover from the show that may win all the awards on Sunday night, this time from Ithacappella. Remember: two P's and two l's!
