ReVoiced & Their Best Buddies Raise Awareness
reVoiced talks about their partnership with Best Buddies International.
Over the past year, reVoiced has teamed with the nonprofit organization Best Buddies International to not only bring music to schools but also make a difference for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Before partnering with Best Buddies, the group raised $50K through their Music in Schools tour to help high school music programs. In partnership with BBI, they're aiming to expand their impact nationwide.
"In the future, we'll be putting on fundraiser shows at school districts all over the country to help raise funds for more localized chapters to be built and put into place," Nate Tao of reVoiced told FloVoice. "We're very excited for this partnership and already have many performances with BB lined up in the coming months!"
ReVoiced became involved with Best Buddies International after meeting Vallye Adams, National Director for Expansion for BBI, while headlining a cruise ship last year.
Adams thought reVoiced would be a great fit for Best Buddies, and the group immediately felt the same way.
"Two of our members have family with IDD, and so there's also a deep personal connection with BB and its message for awareness and inclusion," Tao said.
There was also a lot of brainstorming as to how the two organizations could work together.
Along with launching the Best Buddies Tour, reVoiced started working on ideas for a song and music video to help create awareness for the nonprofit.
"We wanted a song that was positive, fun, catchy, and uplifting. A bunch of songs were thrown around and we landed on Meghan Trainor's 'I Love Me' because she's all about self-empowerment," Tao said.
After altering some of the lyrics to fit BB's mission statement, the group filmed the music video in Tampa, FL, earlier this year.
"The video centers on a buddy named Sam, and we had an absolute blast filming it with him, other BB members, and the film crew," Tao said.
ReVoiced premiered the music video and performed it live for over 2,500 attendees at the Best Buddies Leadership Conference in Bloomington, IN, last month.
