Thursday's performers include:
DeKalb High School Percussion Ensemble
DeKalb, IL
Directed by acclaimed percussionist, Steve Lundin, the DeKalb High School Percussion Ensemble includes every percussion student in the school’s instrumental music program. Students also participate in marching band, concert bands, and symphony orchestra.
They are returning performers at the National Percussion Festival and have also performed at the Percussive Arts Society’s Illinois Day of Percussion and the Illinois Music Educator’s All-State Conference.
Ashley Ridge High School Percussion Ensemble
Summerville, SC
With a school and program only 10 years old, director and veteran educator Sue Alexander had her work cut out for her. Starting with a small pep band and soon thereafter a competitive marching band, the percussion ensemble was added in 2009. The Swamp Foxes are ready to impress under the direction of Chad Pence and percussion coordinator Bill Register.
Friendswood High School Percussion Ensemble
Friendswood, Texas
Part of the nationally recognized Mustang Band, this program has won honors from Bands of America, TMEA, UIL State Marching Contest, Midwest Clinic, and UIL Sweepstakes under director Greg Dick. This will be Friendswood's first appearance at the National Honors Festival.
