The future stars of barbershop will get the opportunity of a lifetime while competing in Music City. The Youth Quartet contest is just one of the exciting competitions taking place in Nashville, TN, during this year’s Barbershop Harmony Society's Midwinter Convention.
While the full convention takes place from January 22-27, 2019, you'll be able to watch the Youth Quartet Contest LIVE on FloVoice at 4 PM Central on Thursday, January 24.
Tune in all day Friday as well to see the Next Generation and Seniors Chorus Contest live from Nashville.
This packed schedule of Barbershop Harmony Society’s Midwinter Convention includes 15 Junior Quartet Contest participants, 18 Next Generation Chorus participant groups, 27 Senior Quartets, as well as six Senior Chorus groups.
This year will mark the first time that both women's and mixed Junior Quartets will take the stage to compete for that illustrious gold medal, as BHS continues to expand their mission of "Everyone in Harmony."
Speaking of mixed quartets, Vintage Mix is squarely atop this year’s Midwinter Don’t Miss List. Longtime darlings of the barbershop community, Vintage Mix, is a quartet of quadruplets that is sure to wow the crowd. Last year they sang as a guest group, but this year they will be competing as the contest's only Mixed quartet as representatives of the Land O' Lakes District and Waukesha, WI.
Seven women's quartets will take the stage over the course of the competition, including two groups from Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona: The Barbershop Darlings and Belle Voix. Here's there full chorus from the 2017 Midwinter Convention:
Out of the handful of Senior Quartets competing this year rises Spotlight, who has come so far since last year.
Gold medal chorus Vocal Seniority is once again competing at Midwinter after a year off and we’re so glad to have them back.
And, never fear, we'll still see seven men's quartets cross the stage, including Dixie District's Makeshift Quartet, seen performing here at the 2015 International in Pittsburgh:
