In front of a packed enthusiastic audience in the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC, the world's top ten quartets gave the performances of a lifetime. Quorum, a quartet packed with decades of experience, delivered an incredible musical performance, scoring 8462 points for a 94.0%. This gives the group the 2nd highest quartet score in the history of the organization.

Over the course of three sessions the BHS International Chorus Contest, the audience was treated to skateboards, tap shoes, swing dancing, heartfelt intergenerational moments, and even Stormtrooper dog. Of course, there was also some phenomenal singing. In the first year of the Everyone in Harmony fully Open Contest. This contest had an incredible depth of talent and it showed in the tightly contested scores.

It was a memorable night in the Spectrum Center as the world's top 20 quartets battled it out for a coveted spot in the finals. Here are some of the highlights:

The crowds roared last night in the Spectrum Center for a tightly contested parade of young talents in the Next Generation Varsity Quartets. So tightly contested in fact, the top two quartets finished with the same score, with the winner going to the quartet with the higher score in the Singing Category. The newly minted champions are Clementones out of Denmark, with Jefferson Plaid Tie taking silver. The winning score was 1430 points/79.4%. The Clementones edged out Jefferson Plaid Tie by 10 points in the Singing Category.

After an exciting convention, new champions were named and BHS looks ahead to the International Convention in LA this July.

After an exciting day of contest, the Barbershop Harmony Society named Hearsay the 2020 International Senior Quartet Champions. 

From Disney, to The Beatles, to barbershop classics, the youngest and oldest talent of the Barbershop Harmony Society shared the stage at the Florida Theatre in a marathon of chorus performances today at the BHS Midwinter Convention in Jacksonville.

Day One at the Barbershop Harmony Society Midwinter Convention in Jacksonville started off the weekend strong with education, the Keynote Address, the 2nd ever NextGen Junior Quartet Contest, and a Champion-packed Opening Night Showcase.

The teens of BHS took the stage as the NextGen Junior Quartet Contest enters its second year.

2019 was full of aca-happenings. Here are some of the notable moments in the last year of vocal music.

It was a strong afternoon of singing at the Harmony, Inc. Quartet Finals, where Hot Pursuit was named the 2019 Harmony Queens. Scoring an 81.5%, Hot Pursuit now joins the welcome company of the Association of Harmony Queens.

With a score of 83.7% (1507) A Cappella Showcase took home their third gold medal at the 2019 Harmony, Inc. IC&C with the second highest chorus score ever. As expected, the chorus contest was exciting and hotly contested with runners-up Northern Blend finishing just 7 points behind A Cappella Showcase with an 83.3% (1500). It was the first time Harmony, Inc. saw not one, but two scores above an 83% in the same contest. 

  Saturday night 10 of the best collegiate groups in the world took the stage at the Playstation Theatre in the heart of Times Square. The first group out was Pitch Please, the Wild Card Finalist, from Northeastern University in Boston. They kicked off the show with incredible energy and killer shoes. Taking away the award for Best Vocal Percussion. This all girl group knows who they are and aren’t afraid to show it. 

   After a full day of rehearsing, making new friends and battling the rain, the competitors in the 2019 International Championship of High School A cappella sang their hearts out and left everything on the stage.

After nearly a week of barbershop excellence, the curtain has closed on the 2019 Barbershop Harmony Society Midwinter Convention, where singers young and old crossed the Grand Ole Opry stage, historic contests were held and thousands of people had their love of singing renewed.
